He has represented more than a 1000 public and private clients in different courts of law in matters relating to inter alia, Service Law, Industrial Relations and Labour Laws, Anti-terrorism, Civil Law, Criminal Law and Constitutional issues. Besides, he is an internationally eradicated Mediator and an expert in Alternative Dispute Resolution.

Previously, he has served with the multiple UN Bodies as well as Government and not for profit organization, on projects relating to Rule of Law and Human Rights, including UNICEF, UNDP, UNFPA, NCSW, The Asia Foundation, Oxford Policy Management and Group Development Pakistan. He has also served as Member, special committee constituted by the Supreme Court of Pakistan to review different laws and rules. He has also served as Legal Consultant for the Ministry of Law & Justice and the Ministry of Human Rights, Government of Pakistan.

Among his recent legislative contributions, include the Peshawar High Court (Virtual Court Proceedings) Rules, 2021, the Islamabad Capital Territory Child Protection Act, 2018; the Juvenile Justice System Act, 2018; the National Commission on the Rights of the Child Act, 2017; the Hindu Marriage Act, 2017; the Alternative Dispute Resolution Act, 2017, the Cost of Litigation Act, 2017; the Criminal Law (Second Amendment) Act, 2016 and the Balochistan Child Protection Act, 2016. He has drafted Rules under various federal and provincial statues relating to juvenile justice and child protection and is the co-author of a Handbook on Child Courts.

He is the founding Chairperson of School of Law and Development and the founding partner of a law firm Hassan, Sharafat and Umer Advocates (HSU Advocates). Besides, he is also associated with a Cyprus-based international law firm Yiannis Papazacharia L.L.C.

As an adjunct faculty member, Sharafat teaches International Law, Human Rights Law and Law of Crimes at KP Judicial Academy, Sindh Judicial Academy and Iqra University. For further information, visit www.sharafatjurist.com.
